So Busy

Well, we're on the last few days of school before Christmas break. I think we're all going to need a vacation! Last week was crazy busy! At the end of the school year last year another mom and I thought we'd step up and be in charge of the 'teacher appreciation' this year. I thought we'd be doing something at the end of the year, but oh no! We have about 8 things going throughout the year. Which is really OK, just a bit of a learning curve right now, if we do it again next year, we'll be able to do it with our eyes closed!
Anyhow, last Thursday we did an Italian themed lunch, which turned out beautifully and the teachers were SO thankful so it was worth all the work but made for an extra busy week. The day before (I am going somewhere with all this, so hang on) 4 of us moms got together to assemble 6 lasagnas and 3 batches of chocolate mousse. Now here is where the story begins. Oh. My. I've never made mousse before and while it is not difficult, it requires certain steps and exactness. But is it ever worth the effort!
I do believe the world shifted ever so slightly on it's axis when I had a sample of our work. Deeelish! Well, I asked for a copy of the recipe and seeing as my birthday was the following day I decided that it was precisely what I should make myself for dessert. :)

Are you drooling yet? It has just a splash of Irish cream in it which gives it a wee bit of a kick, in case it wasn't delectable enough on it's own.
It was a hit and I do believe I may have to recreate it for my family's Christmas. On top of all that the boys spoiled me with a couple of sweaters, new slippers (desperately needed!), a cookbook holder and the new Michael Buble Christmas CD which is totally fantastic!
Pretty!

We didn't have time to go out for dinner until Friday, which started off with coffee with a friend, serving hot lunch at school, taking Ethan to a swimming party, collecting Owen from a play date and then driving out to the Olive Garden with the boys. It was a lovely night and much needed after a hectic week that was not yet over.
Saturday morning we had to be in 2 places at once - B's union's Santa breakfast and Ethan's football wrap up and award party. So we once again split up, each with one boy and then headed to B's parents for my b-day dinner with them, which was seafood lasagna, salad and chocolate cake for dessert. Gotta love birthdays that go on for days!
This week I've spent a morning in Owen's class helping out, a morning in Ethan's doing crafts and watching the class Christmas concert. Tomorrow I'm not leaving my house. For the whole day. Well, at least until I have to pick up children.
This feels like it was rather scattered. I'm going to go now. The end.

That mousse sounds amazing! (It looks pretty darn good too.)

Happy Belated Birthday! I love birthdays that go on for days too. I still have one more little celebration to look forward to before the excitement is over for another year.
