When B's mom cancelled Thanksgiving dinner because her dad was in the hospital, her hubby needs tending due to a broken foot, and she fell ill. L and I talked it over and thought we could still get together anyhow as it felt wrong to not to anything. We both had the same thought and figured we might just be grown up enough to handle 'the dinner'. We split up the dishes and work nicely and it wasn't really that scary at all! See...real food, made by us!
The potatoes are in that pot, in case you're wondering.
Yummy stuffing...
A pretty table...
And a full plate
and aside from the albino gravy (I forgot to brown the butter and I don't have gravy browner) everything looked as good as it tasted! Or is it tasted as good as it looked? Either way we were rather pleased with ourselves and the menfolk declared it good as well.
Apparently I was so delighted with our dinner that I forgot to take a picture of the dessert. Oh well, that was pretty good too. Although there was no pumpkin pie to be served in this household. I won't do it. And I'm not sorry. It's against my principles. Would you eat zucchini pie? Squash pie? No you would not. Case in point.
Happy Thanksgiving! It's much better without the pie. You should try it. :)

You've got one on me Jill. I have yet to cook a turkey.
Pale gravy is okay....as long as it tastes good. My mom's gravy is usually that color!
I think we deserve a gold star for our first crack at it!
congratulations you two, im proud of you. Although your father-in-laws ankle is broken it was his foot the last time.. :) Thanks for the plates sent over. My family is one thing I am so thankful for, and one of my biggest blessings
Good job! It's not as difficult as it looks, is it? But I'd have to disagree with you about the pie. My pumpkin pie is AMAZING! :)
I hate to tell you Sonya, that's what they all say. You can't fool me. :)
