I'll be taking a wee break from blogging.
I shan't be too long.
See you all in a while.

So much for a great day
Remember how I said I wasn't going anywhere Friday? Well, I didn't. Ethan started throwing up Thursday night and I followed suit the next morning. Ugh. A very, very nasty day. I loathe being sick, especially throwing up. If I never do it again I'd be quite happy. I called my parents to at least take poor Owen out of the house as I could barely take care of myself let alone 2 children. Ethan was feeling well enough to go by the time they came so I crawled straight into bed and slept for 2 hours. What a way to spend the first day of holidays. The good part was that by 4 I was feeling better. Enough so that I vacuumed and finished about 4 loads of laundry! Weird. Makes me wonder if it was food poisoning? But B had been sick a couple days before with the same-ish sort of thing. I'm just glad it went away so fast. So that was the start of my weekend. It could only go up from there!

Last days
It's been a whirlwind couple days.
Yesterday I endured our first sport's day in the pouring rain. I figured next year would be more enjoyable because it couldn't really be much worse. I'm looking forward to it already. :)
The poor kids still managed to have fun and it was very organized other than they should have switched to a hot cocoa station instead of a Popsicle station.
Here's my boy:

utterly drenched:

tiredly showing off his ribbon:

with his trusty sidekick:

Then on to today. The last day of school!!
I don't know about you but we never had Kindergarten graduation. It was really cute though. The kids sang a couple songs and then were awarded their diplomas.

Some super cute treats for the kids that one mom made.

Cupcakes I made for the 'after party'. LOL! One of the moms invited the whole class over for a BBQ - so fun. The kids ran around like maniacs and the moms got to chat.

I can't tell you how excited I am not to go ANYWHERE tomorrow. Really. I'm not leaving the house. I know the boys had a fun week but they are totally wiped. I just can't believe it's really over. It suddenly all went so fast and we have a full fledged first grader living in our house. Amazing.

Father's Day Weekend
For not having had much planned we sure kept ourselves busy!

Saturday afternoon we took the boys to the fish hatchery for the Father's Day event they were hosting. I thought we'd be there for a couple hours at the most and ended up staying over 4! Everything was free (except food) and the boys got to fish - first in the 'pool' which you're pretty much guaranteed to catch one. Ethan did catch his first fish there and you could choose to release them or take them home. Well our poor unfortunate trout swallowed his hook so his fate was sealed. Little did I know they would bash it over the head - twice - in front of my children! It was a bit of a sadistic start to the day to be sure! Ethan was quite pleased that he'd caught one but didn't want to touch it. Ugh. Neither would I. Too slimy.

Owen concentrating very hard on NOT fishing. He didn't seem to care either way.

There were ponds to fish in as well, face painting, jumping things, a fire truck to climb on and hot dogs and ice cream. Very good 'Dad' activities.
We gave our fish a go on the BBQ and it turned out ok. I'm not a huge fan of trout so I was glad we had some steak and baked potatoes to go along with it. Ethan was pretty thrilled that he'd provided dinner. Even though he only had a nibble.

Sunday we attended church as usual, went through Tim's as usual, added some donuts to the order and headed over to visit B's grandparents. We had a great visit and even got some fresh homemade pizza that his Grandma had literally just whipped up. So good!

Then we went to a local lake and the boys tried their hand at catching more fish. No luck this time but Ethan learned to cast all by himself!

Owen danced around collecting rocks and got to pee in the bushes. Fun indeed.

I love my boys. And their Daddy pretty much rocks.

We then had B's parents over for hamburgers and oysters. Gag. The men ate the oysters, the women stuck to the real food. :)
