Tuesday

This is my favourite day of the week at the moment. I like having structure and some sense of what's happening on a weekly basis. I like being able to have a set time to grocery shop and get certain things accomplished. Tuesday though, is generally unstructured. I usually go grocery shopping and run errands on Mondays as we always seem to need restocking after the weekend and then with Ethan's guitar lesson and zumba in the evening it feels like Monday is very much a run around day. Wednesday is pretty good too, I get to start the day with zumba (seriously, I wish I could start every day like that!) which eats up a good part of the morning and then I do anything that needs doing (like cleaning etc)before Thursday and Friday as I have my little charges those days. Thursday is busy because they don't leave until 4:45 and then another zumba class at 6 which means a super quick and easy dinner for my family before I dash out the door (I don't eat until after or I'd hurl) and then Friday they're back again.
Then there's Tuesday. I can shop if I want to. I can bake all day if I want to. I can read or do laundry (well, I usually do that daily). This is the kind of day that I like best.  Next week it will change as football is starting so that means early dinner and then out the door by 5:40. But I will still hang on to my little bit of freedom before school ends. It's my sanity day and I like that a lot. :)

Flowers

I have no excuse. I was not on holidays. I don't know what I was doing. I guess I just didn't have anything exciting to blog about. Plus I always feel like I need to include pictures and I just hadn't taken any. But I did now so you can all breath a sigh of relief. Kidding. Well here is one thing I accomplished over the last 2 weeks. Gardening. This year I've taken it bit by bit. Other years I've gone and purchased all my flowers, soil and seeds in one fell swoop. This year I didn't. I picked up baskets at Cos.tco this year as well as my geraniums and petunias. They had good prices for large pots so my planters looked instantly full and colourful. I usually plant impatience or some other smaller flower in the pots as well but I think I'm kind of liking the simple look this year. I'll see yet... My pretty begonias. After buying these last year for the first time I'm hooked! They are continually flowering and the leaves always stay a deep green. My mixed baskets always looked so leggy and crisp even when I watered faithfully. These make me happy.

I also discovered double petunias this year. They are so fantastic! They look a bit like roses and they are slightly viney. This colour is not true and real they are a very deep purple, not quite so blue.

And my simple geranium pots. This is a salmon colour and my ivy lived through my wintry neglect so I let it stay.

And just because I like to play with saturation and contrast I'll include these. :)

Oh. My.

Another Pinterest recipe find. And it's a keeper! All the flavour of cinnamon buns but about a quarter of the work. It's buttery and cinnamony and you'll really have to go make it. You won't be disappointed. Even my toughest critic thought it was great. I also can't promise you that I didn't have some for breakfast.

Flower gifts

The boys and I walked over to the park last week and before I knew it I had a handful of flowers picked by them. I have to say that even though it was primarily made up of weeds I thought it was rather pretty!

B gave me this orchid for our anniversary. So beautiful! I love the colour. Thankfully I have my mom as my very own gardening and green thumb encyclopedia so I'm sure I'll be able to keep it alive for some time.

It's About Us

15 years ago today marks the day we married. We were young and inlove. And now we're old and inlove. har har. Okay, not so old. At least we still have the inlove part! At the risk of sounding like a complete sap, I truly couldn't have asked for a better man. He is a great husband, a great dad and I love him more now than I did all those years ago. We are such a good match. He's level headed and I'm a bit of a spaz. He's logical and I tend to dream. He makes me laugh nearly every day and I love to laugh. I love him and he loves me. I also love zumba and he probably does not. See? It totally works. So Happy Anniversary to us. Cuz we rock.

Heart Be Still

These are the 'real' pictures of my wee little ring 'bear' at my neice's wedding last fall. Her photographer is amazing and has such a way of capturing eyes. One of my favourite features. Could he be any cuter? *sigh*

I am contemplating going private. Not sure exactly how it works but I'll let you know before I do.

Goggles

This is what met me at the table yesterday. He likes doing 'crafts' at school and comes home with oodles of paper and self invented items made out of an assortment of materials. We have more paper airplanes than an airline. :)
